FD irwindale 2011 part deux

A day that is going to go down in FD history. Crashes, upsets, and a new FD king was crowned, today was filled with amazing driving put on by all top 32 drivers, and went off pretty much with out a hitch at all. even with there new live halftime show, which involved live interviews with FD drivers, insider feedback, and fan questions answered via driftstream chat.
The road to the title was a rough one for Dai, he ended up missing a whole clipping point and going off track, giving the win to THE GUSH. which pretty much set up JTP to take the 2011 FD Title, where he intern seemed to make a freak mistake too crashing into the wall right below the judges tent. this then set up D MAC to potentially take the title out from under both of them. Tyler mcquarrie knocked out D MAC, making it official Dai was crowned the 2011 FD CHAMP, and took home the discount tire triple crown as well. In the battle for 3rd D MAC and Chris Forsberg both crashed on their final run, but since D MAC made contact with Chris on the first run, Chris ended up taking 3rd place, Leaving Rhys and Tyler to battle it out for first.

official results:
PRO
1st-Tyler Mcquarrie
2nd-Rhys Millen
3rd-Chris Forsberg

PRO/AM
1st-Brian Peter
2nd-Julian Jacobs
3rd-Patrick Goodin

FD Irwindale 2011 Title Fight

Today felt like it was the slowest day of any FD that i have ever been to, technical difficulties setting up the 3D TV for the versus channel made for a very agonizing first few runs, then Kyle pollard decided to run his car into the white and orange street barriers lining the inside of the course, causing a need for a clean up. his car was not badly damaged. the the crash of the day goes to Jim Guthrie crashing hard head on into the end of the big banked turn, this causing a HUGE delay he had to get pulled from he car and taken away in an ambulance. his car managed to leak all of its fluids from top to bottom of the banked turn. factor in a few glitches from the speakers not working, to just plain announcing scores for the wrong drivers. all of these issues put the event so behind schedule that they had to cancel the autograph session. But besides all of those issues it still turned out to be a great day. i love the new track layout it makes for some hella good tire smoking. as always Formula D puts on a great event. and i cant wait to see the tandems on Saturday. hope to see you all there.

FUNCTION CERTIFIED

A few weeks back we were able to hook up with a super cool dude, Danny George. It was a huge opportunity for us here at FUNCTIONTHEORY.COM to help with launching our Local grass roots Features. Danny is a very talented drifter who frequents the podium. He came screaming on to the local drift seen here in Vegas 2 years ago, taking first place in his first ever pro am event. he pretty much shocked everyone, especially since he did it in a MIATA! fast forward to now and he has crashed his original miata then quickly built a new lighter, faster, stronger miata up. it is built to FD rules, since he does have a FD license, that he received last year at Irwindale.  he will also be competing in every FD event next season, so be on the look out for this guy. Danny is going to be making a splash next year. you wont miss him with his bright orange miata.
