It's my time... ( for a cage )

After the recent success of doing Bobby's cage, it was now time to start doing mine. I decided while it was still fresh in my mind I would start, Since I seem to forget how to use some of the tools and what dimensions work best if too much time passes between cages. 

The criteria for my cage is going to be basic as we'll. it is a must for me to have good head clearance with a helmet on, since on my last bolt in cage I would have to drift with my head cocked a little when I had a helmet on. Second would be keep it easy to get in and out of since I still drive my car on the street. 

A few people were wondering what we use for building cages. Here is a list of what we use.

JD2 bender, 6.5 11/2 inch die no hydrolic attachment just a big pole

JD2 Notcher with 11/2 hole saw bit 

Lincoln 220w mig welder 

Basic grinder with cut off and flap wheels 

Brake cleaner to clean where your going to weld 

23/8 hole saw bit to cut holes in floor 

Wire wheel to clean the tar off the floor to weld the base plates too 

Window removing tools

Ratchet strap

And bend tech software 

This time I figured I would try and document it a little more in detail and have Ever take more pictures cause he always takes the raddest  shots 

You will notice in some shots there is a ratchet strap, it is there to help hold the halo bar in place so I don't need two people to hold it while I fit it. 

IT'S BEEN A WHILE

Truly sorry for the lull in posting. we have been busy, I'm sorry but we have our own projects we are working on, along with our regular 40 hours week jobs. so deal with it. so i will try to justify why we have not posted in a few. here goes

first of all went to San Diego and picked up an SPORTCAR MOTION bumper.


second. finally sourced out the rest of the set for the EM BARS


third. been doing some changes to my white eg. i know that there is NO function to the skunk valve cover washers. but they look sick as hell, and i figured i got enough function to justify some bling.


also picked up a battery. if you remember the civic battery died right before the trip to Texas. so i got this beauty and ill be mounting it the rear.



Then the icing on the cake. FINALLY after years of down time. the beast is lose again.

FINALLY we got a west coast car. and its just what we were looking for, a canyon, touge, auto x, daily driven civic. this is Garretts of Napa california  93 EJ. he some how managed to stuff 15x9 +36 wheels on it. and he has a modest modest B16 with all the bolt on's and a low key exhaust to keep him out of trouble with the local CALIFORNIA authority. thanks Garrett for sending us your civic, and getting the west coast on the map. we will mail your certified sticker out to you today.

BIG ups to lyron from NY, for sending us some picture and specs about his 92 TOYOTA SOARER. this car is a great example of FUNCTIONAL. he built it all and drifts it despite the fact that it is a REAL JDM SOARER. way to go lyron keep it up... as soon as we get our certified stickers in we will mail it out to you..

i have a bunch of plans for the winter to prep the car for the 2011 drift season.

future plans: roll cage, cutom stainless steel dash, new daily driver wheels, new adjustable dampening coilovers, custom steering knuckles and apexi fc computer to unleash some more power out of the stock 1jz.

almost there

well today we spent most of the day trying to get the car ready so we could make it to vegas drift 21... how ever one bajo bolt proved to be very hard to find here in las vegas. after driving around to all the local hardware stores to try and get a banjo bolt we ended up empty handed. oh well atleast the car is down on all fours, and rolling around. it has been a long time in the making.

once the car starts and is up and driving we will do a feature on it. but until then, here are some shots i snapped as we rolled it out of the garage for the first time it has ever seen then sun in a while. it is a little dirty, some body panels need to be lined up, and the stance need to be adjusted a little. but we are just happy to see it out and rolling around. it was a very late night last night and an early morning today to get it this far. and for a little side note... an infinity G20 water neck will work just fine on an SR20. you can take that to the bank.
