Finished

           Upon returning from our trip across country to pick up my sick new toy. I knew I really needed to finish my cage completely, this basically was just getting bobby to get me some 16g steel plate for the a pillar dimple dies, paint the cage, interior back in, dash cut to fit, glue in the window I failed to break upon removal, and some wiring. It seems like a lot but in reality it was very easy stuff to do, but with the weather heating up and I was also moving.  So it's been pretty easy to just blow off working on the 240, but at the same time I was very excited to get it all running and drive it. So yesterday I finished it, changed the oil and almost took it to the car wash, but ever needed to pick up a gas tank for his 14 so he can finally get that thing running. So tomorrow Sunday June 1st I will officially complete the 240sx cage project, with a simple wash it will mark the completion of my project.

Had ever snap a few just to show what it looks like ( which according to Ian is the same as before) but anyway I'll take some better ones after I get it washed tomorrow 

VEGASDRIFT Practice 5/4/2014

                                       OK short and sweet. its 11:30 pm im leaving on my trip across america in 5 hours im super tired but i wanted to get these pictures posted, since by the time i get back in 2 weeks they will be old news. I shot a ton of pics there is about 250 total on my Flickr which i will link you too at the end of this post. some of the pictures are cool, some aren't apparently i got some debris in my camera that i didn't notice until i had it on a large computer screen, so deal with it. the pics are free you can do what ever you want with them. i only ask that you shoot my a shout out, link my blog, or something to give me some views. Im tired here are the pics if you didn't get in im sorry most likely it was out of focus, i did try to shoot everyone's car.

Door Bars

                                   As i draw nearer to the end of this cage i find it harder and harder to stay motivated, with the heat now reaching the 90s, and the start of my trip across america on Monday. I feel more and more like just " ehh ill do it later " or " im not going to drive when its hot out, so ill just finish it in the fall." But the feeling when you actually accomplish something and look back and say you did it makes everything worth it. In retrospect it really wasn't that hard to do, Its harder to actually find the motivation to start the project, then the act of actually building it. But the end result always is worth it, and  i feel even more sense of accomplishment because I made it happen. By no means am i professional fabricator,but more or less a weekend enthusiast. In a little over two weeks while still working my day job, and finding the energy to do it on my days off and after i had gotten off work, the light at the end of the tunnel can be seen now. With the door bars now in, the cage as a whole is done minus the A pillar braces which is easy. now its just bitch work, take the carpet out, remove the sound deadening, paint the cage, fix the wire disaster, put the windshield in, and make a rear bash bar with jack point.

as per usual ever snapped some shots. I love his perspective because its not just boring pictures of a car, he adds life to the shots and makes them interesting to look at. you can easily tell the difference below because i took some pictures with my phone and it basically just shows the cage, no soul to it. then you can see his and the actually makes you feel, think, imagine,get excited, and enjoy :)

This is Evers car. one day he will finish it, but for now it hold his garage down.

Dry ice helps remove the sound deadening, its better to use the pellets but the are harder to find. spread it all over the sound deadening, leave on for about 10-15 then you should be able to hit the floor with a hammer and the stuff will just flake off in big pieces. be careful, dont get burned

More cage work

                today was a trying day, after putting my seat in to check for head clearance i realized that there was not much. so i had to pretty much start the front half of the cage all over. After already having made the halo bar and A pillar bars, today i had to completely redo them for more head room.  it was a hard start to the day, but i ended up coming out victorious in the end with an all welded in cage minus door bars and A pillar braces ( which i will do tomorrow ). here are the pictures that Ever took today, which includes makin the triangular bars at all four points of the halo bar, dropping the cage through the floor to weld the tops, and pretty much just welding it all up. sorry for not having a more exciting story to tell, but its really pretty obvious what i was doing.
