Wekfest LA 2012

well well well, not to much has changed in the way of west coast wekfest's. Same old civic and integras from same people. Just change a part here add a new color there. don't get me wrong i love seeing the ATS cars and the Bandits, but it would be refreshing to see some other cars not just a bunch of VIP lexus's, BMW, Mercedes benz, stupid sake on your dash, and some stock R35's with aftermarket wheels. I fully respect the R35's and i think they are awesome! but if i go to a car how i want to see a persons work of art, not just going to buy a sick ass car and floss it. how ever there were a few stand out cars for me. The wide MK3, The red NSX with gold wheels not to mentions its intercooler setup, a few stand out 240's back in the corner, one nicely done blue S14 with RB25 swap, the i think new addition to the ATS crew all white EK with black regamasters, down star booth was rocking some new flavor other then its black eg, Big Mike's new aem 4 channel wide band setup, and the SICK ASS 4door SI. now there are other things that were good too, don't freak out cause i missed something but rather then just list a giant list. ill let you take a look for yourself. this time i had some camera issues. mine was in the shop so big thanks to my bestie EVER for letting me use his, but i was a little limited on how many pictures i could take due to the size of his card. so i skipped most of the VIP cars to save room for the other cars. Anyway like usual there is a link to my FLICKR click it to see all 200 photos.

BUT i also tried something new this time. since i was low on memory on the picture camera i was able to shoot some video with my go pro. sadly to say, this was my first attempt at shooting video with it while not suctioned cupped to something. so things are a little shaky but you get the idea. to make sure this doesn't happen again i have ordered a camera stabilizer so i can walk and take video without it being to shaky.please realize i know the video is not that good. but it does help do a little more justice to the cars then just taking 1 picture.

rather then link them all up here and take up a bunch of useless space you can check out my youtube channel Footclan702 to see all 14 videos i shot

WEKFEST 2012 SAN FRAN

Well another wekfest gone by, it was much busier and colder then last year. This year also seemed to have more VIP style cars then I wanted to see, however there was still some amazing cars. My two favorites would have to be the 510 with the s2k motor, And the corolla with the turbo s2k motor in it. There was also the usual favorite civics and integras. And the main attraction the sportcar motion CRZ Freaking awesomeness. But as uasual the line was OUT OF CONTROL it is the most painful thing you will ever do, i was able to get a media pass this year but instead of ditching the people i was with to go in and take pictures since they had to wait to get tickets. I decided to be a nice guy and wait it out with them until they got in. We got in line at 11:45 am and didn't get in till 3:30. So unfortunately i was not able to get pictures before the masses of people, how ever this will be the last time i do that. Aside from the line from hell, cold ass weather, stupid dumb ass people inline cutting and knocking over the barriers, and the fact that you had to park forever away and walk 5000 miles to get there. It was all still worth it and i would do all again, just because i love the excitement of going to theses events, and the caliber of the cars there. that is why i make the journey to them. i only wish they would have had pre sale tickets like they did at all other stops on the tour.

Anyway check out the pictures below. And then click the Flickr link to see all 175+ pictures. All are unedited as usual just to get the pictures up as fast as possible.

2600 miles, the Texas tale

As many of you know i traveled to Fort Worth Texas for the Wekfest tour. Hopefully everyone saw the article from Wekfest that i posted a week ago. if not click here to check it out. now as promised the article about the journey there.

So most of you are thinking why did we drive all the way to Fort Worth from Las Vegas? well we did it to prove to everyone that your daily driver can also double as a track car or vice versa. we also did it to show everyone that we aint bitches, we build our shit and drive it, no trailer queens here. straight pipes, roll cages, racing seats and harnesses, and pillow ball mounts. you name and my car has it. Built and daily driven...
Our story starts off Friday the day before the show. MapQuest says its going to be an 18 hour, 1300 mile drive. so we leave at 6am pacific time since we will be going through 2 time zones we will be two hours difference by the time we get into Texas. We fill up and are on our way. Not even 15 miles into our trip there are already two separate accidents

I was only able to get the camera out for the second one. i didn't realize that i would need the camera out this early in the trip. this one involved a school  bus and this car. once we got out of Vegas everything was flowing smoothly untill we pulled over just outside flagstaff for gas. this is what i saw when i got out of the car to pump some gas.

I have still have NO IDEA how and the hell this happened, we never heard or saw anything come off the car. so to add to our radicalness we rocked no front turn signal all the way there and back. so by this point im starting to think that it might not have been a good idea to drive my car, two car accidents and a blinker that just falls out. its not like i just put them on either they have been on the car for at least 3 years with no issues. so im thinking that maybe there is a higher power telling me that i shouldn't be doing this. Fuck it, were going to Texas. so we continue on issue free, all the way to Gallup New Mexico, talk about a shit town. this is also where i came into another issue that i did not think of. these towns in the middle of no where do not have good gas, by that i mean 91octane. my car is running 11.0-1 compression and the highest that i saw in the first gas station i stopped at was 90 Octane. well about 25 min and no joke 13 gas stations later we finally came across a Chevron that actually had 91, that was a close one. We also made our first food stop their as well. The most appetizing thing we could find was a Denny's, which like the town was crap.  We pressed on,  now keeping in mind that we had to stop at a gas station that had 91octane. So on through Albuquerque and almost to Texas  we made our  third gas stop i forget the name of the town. but we ran into the same Octane problem, this time even the Chevron didn't have 91. we came across a Phillips 66 that had 91, im not sure of there quality but later we found that the Midwest was littered with them and at least i new it was 91.

Many people warned me about how boring this drive would be, but i went on ahead despite their warnings. i said FUCK IT i love to drive an i love an adventure, but this truly was one of the most boring drives i have ever done. straight and flat as far as the eye can see. we continued on all the way to Amarillo Texas with hopes of seeing the Cadillac ranch, but by the time we got to there it was dark out. we did however stop and see the Cadillac ranch but unfortunately it was to dark to get any pictures of it.  So back on the road through Amarillo and on to the 287 taking us through the smallest little hick towns ever. we made a fuel stop and we surpised to find this
HELL YEA 93 octane. Friking zoom zoom zoom, my car was loving it. let me just say that TEXAS you are so lucky, but unfortunately there is a night time speed limit in Texas which is 65mph and a day speed limit of 70mph which only being a five mile an hour difference still meant that we couldn't fly through the night. At this stop it was 12 am Texas time. when we stopped to get gas of course we were getting stares. Nevada plates, lowered, loud ass Honda. Anyway i get out to pump gas and notice a few good ol' boys looking at us, im thinking...great welcome to Texas now leave. I had to go into pay for the gas, for some reason it would take my card. When i came back out the good ol' boys were now in front of my car talking to my brother about my car. they turned out to be pretty nice and they thought my car was a DRIFT car, LOL. you know drifting is popular if small hick towns in Texas know about it. so on through those small towns and finally stopping at 2am at a rest stop just outside of Childress to sleep. we were just going to pitch a tent and sleep in it, but there were signs all over the rest area that said watch out for rattle snakes. so we opted to sleep in the car. I laid out the air mattresses where the rear seats would be in a stock civic and slept there, and my brother slept in the passenger seat that didn't recline since the roll cage is behind it. with the alarm set for 6 am, and the car alarm on. we dozed off , BAM 6am came quick so i hit snooze three times then just turned the alarm off and we ended up sleeping till 730 am. with the show starting at 1pm that didn't leave us much time to get there, but at least now it was day time speed limit so we could push on at a good pace. we managed to roll into Fort worth with about an hour to spare. we parked and went to stand in line. after the show i wanted to get a whataburger they don't have them on the west coast and i heard that they were good, it turned out to be really good. Now being almost 6pm Texas time we decided to head back to Las Vegas since i had to work on Monday and my brother had school. for the trip back we didn't even sleep we just drove all the way through to Vegas, fueled by rockstars and the desire to sleep in a real bed. we drove straight through the night reaching Vegas at 11am pacific time. sorry for lack of pictures but the trip was 85% Night time. So from leaving on Friday at 6am to returning on Sunday at 11am that's our trip 2600 miles. almost 40 hours of driving just for a 3 hour car show. most of you might think its crazy, but its what i enjoy diving, adventures, and car shows. No car issues other then the turn signal, and no tickets. I would like to thank my brother Eric for making the trip with me, without you it would not have been possible. there is no way i could have driven that whole time by myself ...till the next one. STAY FUNCTIONAL .

WEKFEST Fort Worth

As always the Wekfest shows are sick. i was especially excited  For the Texas stop The Midwest guys are really killing lately. For this stop i drove my functional car round trip total of 2600 miles from Vegas to Fort worth and back to see it. i will be doing a separate write up about our adventures in driving down there later this week.  I was happy to see a lot more functional cars in the mix this time. track set up EG's, a 740 HP track integra, an IS300 boasting 800+ HP on race gas, but from the outside looked mostly stock, SR20 swapped corolla, TYPE R's everywhere, and some beat up looking 240s that you could tell they were using and abusing. if one of your cars is pictured please contact us, we would love to send you out a sticker. please comment, the we love the feedback.

WEKFEST 2011

Oh man what a weekend... the whole thing was one big disaster. nothing was working out right we drove round trip about 1500 miles to get there. there was tons of rain and snow and ice through the TEJON pass aka grapevine. flipped over cars mass chaos and that was with in the first hour of our trip. once we got there we got some good parking. and walked down the hill to check out the area. where the show was being held at and it was all looking good. we decided to go eat. BIG MISTAKE we lost the good parking spot and  when we returned to the stairs to walk down to where the meet was at. and there was almost 15 million people in a line that stretched almost down to southern california. we maybe not that bad but it was a 2-3 hour wait to get in to it. and once you got in there was just wall to wall people.the battery in my camera was not charged so i had to walk to a starbucks and charge it for 2 hours while my frineds waited in line. very difficult to get shots of cars. as you can see from the pictures below... but all in all had fun saw the sickest cars out right now, and got to go to SAN FRAN.

below is more then 300 photos of almost every car there, ENJOY. here are a few teasers...

again i cant stress enough how hard it was to get good photos anyone that was there knows what i mean, it was so chaotic in there. but i tried my best. here is what there is
