He thinks his rebuilt S2000 with 0.7 HP per kilo can win the ADVAN Pro Class at Yokohama World Time Attack 2012. It's shaping up to be a big showdown.

VegasDrift Pro/Am Rd3 2012

Yesterday was Rd 3 of the VegasDrift pro am series, and boy was it a hot one. With air temps around 105 degrees and ground temps over 150 degrees, lots of car were suffering. our own driver Joey Sproul was having his fair share of overheating issues. but with hood and bumper removed and a spray down after ever run we managed to keep the car cool, of course the N/A guys were not having as many temp issues as the turbo guys. it was a very exciting night with a few upsets, and also a few surprises. our driver Joey was having a great day with back to back to back consistent runs things were looking good for him with his new setup. but unfortunately was not able to put together a qualifying run. the event was a very laid back fun event with only 20 or so drivers singing up to compete and only the true enthusiast coming out despite the heat, made for a fun time. Starting off the top 16 introductions Brandon Wicknick's car caught fire after the ever popular hooning that takes places after all drivers are introduced. I am not sure hat caused this or what damage had actually been done, he was able to get reinspected and allowed to go on to participate in the top 16. his day was full of problems after braking a tranny and swapping it out during the hottest part of the day just to make practice before qualifying, and then it broke again only allowing him to have 1st and 2nd gear. The number 2 qualifier might have let his nerves get to him, allowing him to spin in both runs after a one more time, and just like that Spike Chen was out.POW put on a great show making it to the top four, but blowing his motor on the his wining run to take him into top 4. but as the night wore on and the battles for top 3 started to take place it became a very different mood, there was tension in the air after the battle for first and second with Forest Wang making a pass due to Alex Villabrialle taking a shallow line. after the decision was made there were some unhappy campers that believed it should have been a one more time battle, but with the judges call standing  with a 2 for forest and 1 one more time, the night was over.

Check out the GOPRO videos of Joey Sproul on during practice below.

FIREBALLSSSS!!!!

check out our driver joey warming up his tires. we struggled through the first part of the day trying to dial in the car, since the tune was done and more power was added the car was a whole different animal. after tweaking a few settings and some overheating issues. With the temps still in the high 90's we took the hood off and all was good. we are hoping for a great day tomorrow.

Driven to Drift S4 Ep2 Road Atlanta

In the latest episode of Driven to Drift, we go behind the scenes with Ken Gushi, Fredric Aasbo and Tony Angelo to get a closer look on the specifics of how Formula Drift competitions are judged. Tony Angelo, a former FD judge lends particular insight into sometimes objective and sometimes subjective factors they're scored on, and how it's these factors that set drifting apart from nearly all other forms of motorsports.

At Road Atlanta, the judges were on our side. Fredric advanced all the way through, besting some of the top drivers including Rhys Millen and Daigo Saito, and landing in the #2 spot on the podium. Congrats to the Need For Speed team on all their hard work.

Dyno Time

In his constant pursuit of power to help him against higher horse powered cars, Functiontheory.com driver Joey Sproul opted to increase his power by upgrading some major parts of his RB20, in order to help stay competitive. Since you cant just slap parts on call it good, you must get the car tuned. So with the recommendation from FD driver Mauricio Ornelas we made the journey to Fontana California to get the car tuned by OSR Dyno, who have tuned Both  Mauricio's RB25 and RB26. Along With endless list of other motors/cars, Including OSR's own Record setting sr20 510. The guys at OSR could not have been nicer, they had to work through a few problems with the car but were able to trouble shoot everything and get the car to pull some respectable numbers for an RB20. below is a few pictures and some videos of the car. after our experience at OSR i would recommend them to anyone. check out their site here for more info OSRDYNO.COM

If you in Vegas this weekend please come out and CHEER JOEY ON, we will be at the Vegas Pro/am Test and tune tomrrow night and then the actual Vegas Pro/am event on staurday night. Come out and cheer him on and get some FUNCTIONTHEORY.COM stickers

Eibach 2012

This event is the 5th eibach event i have been too. this event might also be the last eibach event i go to. this year they moved the eibach event from the actual eibach headquaters to the Irwindale Speedway parking lot, to better accommodate large volumes of people. Boy did that fail, the exit off the 605 was ridiculous, there was a line of cars trying to get off that wasn't even moving. so we decided to exit the opposite way of the event and park about a mile down the road, then walk to the event. this was definitely the way to go, we were walking faster then the cars were driving, the traffic was just bananas! By the time 1:30 came around the event was filled to capacity and there were police telling people to turn around and go home the event was closed they weren't letting anyone else in. this never happened at the old eibach meets. Anyway, Once in the event i quickly realized that there was quantity over quality. seriously there was just garbage ass cars EVERYWHERE, no quality at all. Dented cars, rusty body panels, fake brembo brake caliper covers, fake wheels everywhere with stickers to make the wheels look real, it was quite a disappointment. it made me feel bad for people with nice cars that made the journey to come be apart of the show. when i see the amount of garbage in the scene it is really disappointing. I cant believe that people just buy cheep Chinese knock off parts and don't car one bit about quality or actual functionality of the part. they just want people to see there flashy bling bling. it seems like it all about tow hooks and tie bars, not tuning and tires. what i mean is it seems like people just rush off to there local shop that sells garbage Chinese parts and pick up a tow hook and a tie bar so there car looks cool. but they are still rocking cheap bald ass tires on stock wheels. when in fact there car would handle/perform better if they actually got nice light wheels and grippy tires. sorry, enough of my ranting. i did manage to get 115 pictures so i guess there was some good cars lol. in conclusion i hope that next year it goes back to eibach, it was a better venue and more fun.

For those of you out there doing it right. keep on doing what your doing.

well on to what you came here to see PICTURES!!!

Team Hyundai Recap from Rd 3

Team Hyundai showed up to beautiful Palm Beach with the 2013 Genesis Coupe Drift Car and driver Rhys "Mad Skilz" Millen.

The Genesis Coupe Drift Car preformed great, responding well to the various tweaks and adjustments to cope with changing weather and track conditions.

After placing 6th in qualifying, Hyundai and Rhys Millen Racing were victorious in the top 32 battle vs. Jeremy Lowe. We would proceed to battle the Ryan Tuerck in the top 16. After 2 solid runs and the fastest entry speed of the night, Ryan Tuerck advanced. In the overall standings we are now 4th place points, looking forward to our next race in New Jersey.

This year we're in the hunt for the championship, and will continue our quest for a podium finish. Stay tuned for more action and race recaps as we document the season and share with the fans.

AWESOMENESS

Wekfest LA 2012

well well well, not to much has changed in the way of west coast wekfest's. Same old civic and integras from same people. Just change a part here add a new color there. don't get me wrong i love seeing the ATS cars and the Bandits, but it would be refreshing to see some other cars not just a bunch of VIP lexus's, BMW, Mercedes benz, stupid sake on your dash, and some stock R35's with aftermarket wheels. I fully respect the R35's and i think they are awesome! but if i go to a car how i want to see a persons work of art, not just going to buy a sick ass car and floss it. how ever there were a few stand out cars for me. The wide MK3, The red NSX with gold wheels not to mentions its intercooler setup, a few stand out 240's back in the corner, one nicely done blue S14 with RB25 swap, the i think new addition to the ATS crew all white EK with black regamasters, down star booth was rocking some new flavor other then its black eg, Big Mike's new aem 4 channel wide band setup, and the SICK ASS 4door SI. now there are other things that were good too, don't freak out cause i missed something but rather then just list a giant list. ill let you take a look for yourself. this time i had some camera issues. mine was in the shop so big thanks to my bestie EVER for letting me use his, but i was a little limited on how many pictures i could take due to the size of his card. so i skipped most of the VIP cars to save room for the other cars. Anyway like usual there is a link to my FLICKR click it to see all 200 photos.

BUT i also tried something new this time. since i was low on memory on the picture camera i was able to shoot some video with my go pro. sadly to say, this was my first attempt at shooting video with it while not suctioned cupped to something. so things are a little shaky but you get the idea. to make sure this doesn't happen again i have ordered a camera stabilizer so i can walk and take video without it being to shaky.please realize i know the video is not that good. but it does help do a little more justice to the cars then just taking 1 picture.

rather then link them all up here and take up a bunch of useless space you can check out my youtube channel Footclan702 to see all 14 videos i shot
