SIDEWAYS TO SEMA

ACT Presents: Sideways to SEMA from Cody Slack on Vimeo.

This is a cool video documentary of Chelsea Denofa's 5,000 mile Race Car Road Trip, the 2010 & 2011 XDC Champion Chelsea Denofa took his fully prepped Formula Drift car on a 5,000 mile road trip from Orlando Florida to Las Vegas for the 2011 Sema Show. this reminds me of when we took or trip in my fully raced out civic from las vegas to wekfest in dallas texas if you missed it sheck it out here http://www.functiontheory.blogspot.com/2011/10/2600-miles-texas-tale.html

But this video is awesome, very cool to see them bare the elements and drive all that way is a full race car. it take a certain someone to get into such an uncomfortable car and drive all that way. but we do it for the love of our cars, the Passion we have toward our hobbies, and just a general thirst for adventure. rock on guys i love this video. i hope you drive you car to all the 2012 FD events LOL, just kidding.

SUCH A RAD VIDEO

BASIC DRIFT CAR SETUP 101

As most of you know i have recently finished up the build of my RB swapped drift missile car. this is my first drift car build of my own, i have helped many Friends build their drift cars and i have been around drifting for a while now. but this is the first time i am going to be drifting my own car. So two weeks ago i went out for my first drift sesh ever. i took the car our to U-DRIFT with some friends and had a blast. i think i did pretty well for my first time i only had 4 tires so my day was over pretty quick. but i learned a lot in that time, and i also learned that i have a lot to learn. here are two videos of me.

yes i did forget to torque the wheels after i changed them but i did remember before i went out.

I am well aware that my car is no where near set up properly for drifting. but with only limited funds im trying to figure out what the best choices in mods are that i need to make first.

here is my sub par setup

Tein coilovers that are 5 years old, blown out in every corner, cut springs to make the go lower from previous owner. but they were free and im glad that i was able to get them.
stock links
stock steering
stock knuckles
no front sway bar (because the rb oil pan hits)
stock rear sway bar
welded diff
stock seat
stock seat belt
stock steering wheel
no strut bars

so needless to say i have been searching through the mess of miss leading, incorrect, biased, stupid information found all over the interweb and various forums. today however i was able to come across some great articles on MOTOIQ.COM, written by Mike Kojima who we all know is the brains behind Dais drift car. these articles have helped me to see what is the most important things i can buy and what things i can do without or not do without. I wanted to post this because i know there are many other people out there trying to answer the same questions i have. i also know that these articles are a few months old, but i also know that not everyone is an Internet whore.

Saturday

U-DRIFT SESH

As the PRO/AM draws near for VEGASDRIFT we are out trying to get as much seat time as possible. here are some pictures from today's sesh. it should also be noted that the weather was horrible today in Vegas, with gusts in the 60mph range and scattered rain all over the valley. we all toughed out the weather to show or true passion for the sport. driver joey sproul of jsproulracing ( the one rocking the huge FUNCTIONTHEORY sticker) ran into car issues that ended his day short. a leaky turbo water line, and some clutch issues. hopes to have a new clutch and new water lines in before the VEGASDRIFT event on FEB 18th.

CHECK OUT Joeys pages, like him, support him.
