TOO funny

build your own body kit

NOT REALLY DIGGIN THE STYLE OF THIS CUSTOM BODY KIT.... BUUUTTTT  this is a good idea especially if you drift and smash up your body kit all the time instead of buying a new one each time, just make your own and keep the mold so you can keep making it all the time......

Custom Body Kits
Creating your own unique body kit will set your car apart from anything else on the road.  Best of all, you can choose to be as extreme or mild with your design as you choose!

Creating and Installation of Custom Kit
Step 1 Draw out a good schematic of what you would like from your bodykit.  If you are more experienced you could even do a nice Photoshop or graphics job!

Step 2 - After you have achieved your desired design.  Simply purchase a large block of foam as the one pictured below.  Simply place the block against your vehicle and cut out the desired shape.  We used an 80 grit sandpaper to shape the majority of the areas of foam.

Step 3
- Use your imagination and try to create a design that will flow with the general lines of your vehicle.  Also be sure to have both sides equivalent to each other by checking them over frequently.

Step 4 - The design is finished!  We simply used two other pieces of foam underneath to hold the template in place.

Step 5 - The next step will be to apply the fiberglass on top of the foam.  Before covering the foam, use "water based" contact glue and aluminum foil to cover the foam.  This will prevent the fiberglass from destroying your design.  The contact glue is used to stick the aluminum foil onto the foam.  Then you may apply the fiberglass and resin to your design without any worries.  You will need at least 3 coats of fiberglass.  Once it has all dried, apply putty onto the entire shape to solidify the design.

Step 6 - Finally before you attempt to paint the pieces you will need to finely sand the entire piece to a smooth finish.  Start out using 400 grit sandpaper and work your way to a 1000 grit wet sanding paper.  If you find any holes or scratches you may also choose to fill these in with a fine scratch filling putty.

Step 7 - Now you will have to wait until each piece is completely dry.  When it is you may apply your primer.  We suggest using a good base/clear coat to give your pieces a factory like finish.  If you are not an experienced painter you may choose to have the pieces painted by a professional at a local body shop.  In most cases they can install the pieces for you as well.

And Voila!

WFC year end meet 2010

the 2010 wrong fitment crew year end meet started off a little bad for us, we went to the trusty parking lot where several of the meets usually are. BUT there happend to be some sort of running race that was going on so they had a lot of the parking lot blocked off, but we went ahead and paid to park, then soon found out the meet was moved. they wouldnt give us our money back even though we had just went in not more then a minute earlier. then from there we attempted to find out where the new meet spot was. THANK GOD FOR SMARTPHONES. so long story short we found it and 40 dollars later for parking ( we had two cars) we made it and had a blast. lots of sick cars. very unique styles. LOVED the all motor supra. it ended up taking place in the parking lot just north of the santa monica pier. great weather wish it was a little more over cast so we could have got some better shots. but all in all fun times.

WTF

3 months 20k views....and we are not slowing down.

WOW what a ride the last three months has been, when we set out to make this blog we had no idea that it would take off like this. we are just a couple of guys that love cars, building them, racing them,  going to meets, events, shows, pretty much anything  car culture. the goal of this blog was to make a central HUB of informative links so there would always be a place for you to go when you are working on your own car, or maybe the how tos would encourage you to start working on your own car and get the pleasure out of building it yourself and driving/racing/drifting it your self and feel good about being a REAL MAN and not having a shop do your work. but the blog has exploded into more then just that, we try to bring you a wide array of event coverage, and post up interesting or cool videos. we search the internet night and day to bring you current news or events happening with in the scene. we have brought you coverage from, SEMA, the last three formula d stops, and local events.
we have rolled out our CERTIFIED car program, which can be explained by clicking the tab at the top of the page that says how to get your certified sticker. basically it invites the true car enthusiast/do it your selfer to submit there car to us to get approved based on functionality of your car,.not on how big your wallet is... lets face it, its easy to just throw a bunch of money at something to make it look cool and have all the cool buzz words, but that doesn't mean it is functional. we want to see real daily driven, drifted, tracked, dragged, cars. how ever if you did throw a bunch of money at it and made it functional and you use it thats awsome and we would love to see i too. When it comes down to it we are just REAL GUYS with REAL CARS. that we use and abuse, we dont have endless funds, and we know most of you dont either. we are just looking for the true enthusiast at heart. pretty much if you use your car we would love to certify it, anyone from the grassroots racer to the high dollar sponsored team.

so all in all we are very please with where this site is going. you have to understand and bare with us, since we are just regular guys we do have normal jobs that we work at 40 hours a week that have nothing to do with the automotive industry. it is very hard for us just two little guys to make it everywhere all the time and have the money to get there.for example when we went to formula d in sonoma  we had to sleep in a car cause we could only afford tickets to get in the event and gas to get there and back from las vegas... we cannot provide the the amount of insane coverage that other sites do, at least not now the bigger we get the easier it will be and more connections we will have. as of right now we have no industry connections, we dont get special passes, we dont get any kick downs, or freebies. every event we go to we have to wait in line just like everyone one else... we do not make money on anything we do here, not yet anyway. we plan on getting MERCH made eventually but its just our own money that we put in... we are not making excuses we just want everyone to bare with us and understand that we really do this whole thing from our hearts and becasue we love cars and fixing them up. we want to provide everyone with the information that they need to fix up there own cars.
So we just want to THANK ALL of our loyal fans, who truly believe in us and feel the same way about cars as we do... EVERYDAY we try our very best to post up entertaining, informative, cool, popular, news and pictures that you can enjoy, it is a challenge but we do it cause we love it. we just ask that you are spreading the word about FUNCTINOTHEORY.COM letting everyone you know about us, if you need a sticker to put on your car email us functiontheory.com@gmail.com please dont ask for another if you have already gotten one stickers are expensive... if you think your car might be worthy of a certified sticker submit it to us, we are not going to bag on your car we know that everyone has to start somewhere...  the more buzz we create the bigger we are going to be.
Thanks again to everyone and STAY FUNCTIONAL

below are some of our highlights so far.

here are some links to our flickr with tons of pictures this is only a few of the events that we coverd...
